In Plan: PPF Outing 2014 @ Laiya Aplaya, Batangas

Okay, eto na naman tayo at kailangan na natin planuhin ang outing ng PPF ngayong 2014. Para maisakatuparan namin ang outing na ito, kailangan namin hingin ang inyong mga opinyon at komento.

Para sa taong ito, dahil last year ay nag-North tayo pa-Bolinao, ngayon naman ay mag-South tayo. Sa pagkakataong ito, sa Laiya Aplaya, Batangas ang ating outing. Ang biyahe ay humigit kumulang na apat na oras. Ang date para sa outing ay May 16-18, 2014.

Kanina lang ay nakapunta na kami sa Laiya upang mag-scout ng mga sulit na resorts. Dalawa dito na nakita namin ay Sigayan Beach Resort at Kabayan Beach Resort.



Una, sa Sigayan Beach Resort. Maasikaso ang staff at malinis naman ang lugar. Kahit saan ay may CCTV kaya't documented pa din sa resort ang ating kalokohan (biro lang). Merong sari-sari store, videoke (na available lang hanggang 10pm dahil sa no-karaoke ordinance), at may iba't-ibang activities na available tulad ng Jetski, Kayak, Snorkeling, etc.

















Pros:
[*] Mas mura ng kaunti (P300-P600 price difference)
[*] May available na Jetski for rent
[*] Free WiFi, ref, 5-gallons of water per day, stove with free LPG

Cons:
[*] Mas cramped ang lugar dahil dikit-dikit ang mga dorms
[*] Kailangan magdala ng cooking utensils at dining ware
[*] Hindi ganun kalaki ang beach area
[*] Walang swimming pool

At pangalawa, ang Kabayan Beach Resort. Maasikaso din ang staff, pero ang una naming napansin ay napakalawak ng lugar, at attractive din ang prices. May swimming pool, restaurant, sari-sari store, at meron pang chapel.

Eto din ang kakaiba sa napansin namin compared sa mga resort na kinanbasan namin ay kasama na ang cooking utensils at dining wares. Dahil dito, ulam at inumin na lang ang kailangan natin dalhin upang magluto. Laking menos ito pagdating sa dadalhin natin sa outing.























Pros:
[*] Mas maluwag ang lugar at mas maraming amenities, tulad ng pool, restaurant at chapel
[*] Readily available na ang cooking utensils at dining ware, kaya't food at drinks na lang ang kailangang dalhin
[*] Mas malawak ang beach area
[*] Free WiFi, ref, 5-gallons of water per day, stove with free LPG

Cons:
[*] Mas mahal ng kaunti (P300-P600 price difference)
[*] No Jetski for rent
[*] May bayad na P50/head sa pool area, pero optional naman ito

For this outing, estimated namin na budget bawat head ay minimum of P2,500, at para safe naman ay P3,000 or higher. All-in na ito - transportation expenses, lodging, at food for 2 nights.

Isang mahalagang paalaala - ang policy ng dalawang resort na ito ay 50% downpayment at kailangan one month before ay final na ang reservation natin. Kaya't ngayon pa lang, tumatanggap na kami ng downpayment na minimum of P1,000 para sa outing na ito. As usual, ang perks ng mauunang mag-down ay pwede sila makapamili ng kama o pwesto nila.

Posting to formally vote for Kabayan Beach Resort. A little difference in price with a lot of perks and convenience is what made me decide my vote.

Voted for Kabayan. Di naman ako magje-jetski so, I'll go to where it's more spacious at may dinnerware na agad na provided. Also, going to the beach is nice, pero maganda rin yung may option to use a swimming pool.

Voted for Kabayan beach kasi less bitbitin for utensils. Though nakaka-tempt yung jetski dun sa kabila. Hehe.

Also, ok din yung option for swimming pool kasi hindi lahat ay fan ng beach.

Hao actually magkatabi lang halos yung Sigayan at Kabayan although di ko lang alam kung gaano kalayo ang walking distance. Tipong pwedeng hiramin mo sa kabila yung Jetski tapos dalhin mo papunta sa beach ng Kabayan. Biro lang

So far I have mixed feelings sa lugar (Both resorts) since medyo di ko nagustuhan yung beach nila (Laiya) kasi
naalala ko, yung feel ng sand kapag tinapakan mo feels like mud (putik) at maraming Bangka sa beach.
Galing kami dito last year.

^Kuya Flor, it's basically the same strip of beach, public beach sya so you can pretty much go end-to-end and laze away anywhere. The key difference between the two is space -- mas maluwag yung Kabayan in terms of everything sans cottages. From the parking areas, the walkways, and the areas between cottages, to the atmosphere itself, sobrang mas maaliwalas sya kesa sa Sigayan Bay. Medyo claustrophobic nga raw ang feeling sa Sigayan Bay sabi ni Dee, kasi sobrang cramped up yung mga cottages, parang mistulang eskinita ang dating. Hope that helps you decide.

Other key points to consider between the two choices:

- Sigayan Bay offers a few more extra recreational options. Besides a jetski rental (na medyo pricey), they also have banana boats (1500 for 15 minutes, up to 5 persons ata) and snorkeling gear (100 per head) up for rental. They also offer an hour-long boat ride to a secluded island cove (900 per boat, up to 10 persons). Kabayan on the other hand offers therapeutic massages (300 per hour) and billiards (100 per hour), aside from the swimming pools (50 per head effectively).

- Kabayan also has their lodgings equipped with Dream Satellite TV (parang may sasama sa outing para manood lang ng cable TV LOL). Also, they have a bigger Wi-Fi coverage area than Sigayan Bay.

Other key points for the venue as well:

- Very accessible ang concessions. Both resorts have restaurants and convenience stores inside. A mini-mart and a tube ice supplier are also within easy reach -- lalabas ka lang towards the main road, andun na sila. A big grocery or a wet market isn't, though -- the town itself is 22 kilometers away, so kelangan na nating kumpletohin lahat ng kelangang dalhin before we even go there.

A big shock in terms of the budget is expected though, kaya we'll keep you guys posted sa total breakdown of expenses within the week para makita ninyo kung ano ang mga dapat paghandaan.

One last thing -- we need your feedback and ultimately, your confirmation AS SOON AS POSSIBLE. Medyo late na rin nakapag-start ang planning stages dahil sa scheduling complications na rin, so kelangan ninyong makapag-decide ng mas mabilis. Medyo popular destination ang Laiya Aplaya kaya we're expecting na mabilis maubos ang accommodations. Please guys, we need your swift action with regard to this matter para mas maganda ang options natin.

i tried to recall my experience in my company team building last year
sa Laiya, I recalled na yung tinutukoy kong beach na may mud feel
sands ay yung sa area ng sigayan and upon looking at google maps
nasa ibang beach part yung kabayan.

With that ill vote for Kabayan.

The Laiya beach could have been better (extreme east ng kabayan) sana.

question nalang is yung date ng outing.
